It seems quite fitting that I am writing my first blog post on what is the last day of the year 2013.
This isn't going to be a long one because I've got to get ready for my New Year's Eve celebrations (some of my old school friends are coming round =D), but I felt the need to make an entry.
This year has felt like a very long year, compared to previous ones anyway. It feels so cliché to say, but it has definitely had it's ups and it's downs. I have never been one to wish a year 'goodbye' as such, however I am very much looking forward to the next year ahead, because in 3 days I am flying out to Vietnam!!!
Now, here's a few things to sum up 2013.
- January seemed to get off to a good start until OFSTED decided to knock on the door of the school I was teaching in. I was happy with the grading I got from them, but then my NQT (first year of teaching) year seemed to get extremely difficult with all the changes having to be made to the school! Around April/May time, I decided to apply for a job teaching at a school in Vietnam. Anyway, by the end of the school year things were looking up and I remembered how much I loved teaching the children in my class. The children were brilliant and the support from the parents was overwhelming. It was a shame to leave them, but my happiness needed to come first (wow - that sounds incredibly soppy haha)!
- (I feel like not much happened between January and July due to feeling so stressed... What an awful thing to say).
- I went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with my sister which was brilliant!!!
- I left Liverpool after it became my home for 5 years. That still feels weird thinking about being there for so long.
- I moved back home for the time between leaving Liverpool and moving to Vietnam. It was brilliant to spend time with my parents and friends but it took a while to slot back into a routine that was no longer my own.
- I did Supply work, teaching in numerous schools in my home county, which I LOVED!!! (I didn't love the early morning phone calls requesting me to work however.) It was brilliant to get a taste of every year group and meet so many different children and teachers! You honestly can learn so much in so little time.
- I met my new baby cousin, Idris, who is absolutely gorgeous!!
- I said goodbye to my Great Aunt who sadly passed away in November.
- I went to stay with my sister in Edinburgh again and saw it in all it's Christmas glory!
- I went to Yo! Sushi for the first time and loved it!
- I saw lots of my wonderful friends before going away, which were all fun and memorable in their own right!
- I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in London with my parents! I suggest whoever is reading this to go and see it, it honestly was fantastic!
- I celebrated Christmas in the Lake District with my family. It is such a beautiful place and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there!
- I realised I use far too many exclamation marks!!!!
There it is. I'm sure I have missed many things out, but time really is running away from me now. My friends will be here in 1.5 hours and I'm just sat here typing away in my comfy clothes, so I really must go and get ready!
I hope to blog quite regularly, but who knows what the future will bring!
I wish you all a fantastic New Year. May it bring you love, happiness and whatever else you wish for. One thing I wish for you all to do is to smile and enjoy it!
A day without laughter is a day wasted.
